HOLIDAY ITINERARY
Day 1: We head to Loch Lomond Shores where you can hit the shops, grab a bite to eat and take in the lovely views of the water with an abundance of nature and wildlife. Later we check-in to the Croit Anna Hotel in Fort William. This is our base for the next three nights.
Day 2: Today we enjoy a cruise on Loch Linnhe departing from Fort William Pier. Experience a variety of Scottish wildlife as well as unbeatable views of Ben Nevis from the tranquil waters of Loch Linnhe on this two-hour cruise. Afterwards we spend some time in the centre of Fort William.
Day 3: Described as the greatest railway journey in the world, we travel from Fort William to Mallaig on board the Jacobite steam train, made famous in the Harry Potter films. This picturesque journey passes through Arisaig, alongside Loch Morar and over the Glenfinnan Viaduct en route to Mallaig, where you can enjoy stunning views of the Isles of Rum, Eigg and Skye.
Day 4: A morning excursion to Oban – the seafood capital of Scotland. There are plenty of small galleries and independent stores to browse through, as well as the centrally-located local distillery, chocolate shop and museum. Wander along the seafront to the ruined Dunollie Castle and the sandy beaches beyond – something for everyone. Later, we head to the Carrbridge Hotel which is our base for the next four nights.
Day 5: Start the day with a visit to Ballater, the most picturesque Victorian village in the heart of Royal Deeside. We then take a lovely drive through Crathie and Balmoral where we will pass the Castle. Our final stop will be Braemar village surrounded by stunning mountain scenery, beautiful glens and ancient pine forests which contain abundant wildlife.
Day 6: Steam, smoke and hot oil - the smells and sounds of rail travel as it was in the fifties. Combine this with spectacular Highland scenery in the Cairngorms National Park and you have the ingredients for a great day out on the Strathspey Steam Railway. As the train makes its way to Aviemore, relax in a vintage carriage and enjoy the views over moorland to the Cairngorm
Mountains and River Spey. Includes some free time in pretty Aviemore.
Day 7: Today our coach driver has a well-earned rest and you are free to make your own plans. Perhaps you will wander the local area and visit the famous packhorse bridge or you could take the train to Inverness which is the capital of the Highlands. The train station is less than one-mile from the hotel.
Day 8: Our final day of the staycation takes in a visit to Pitlochry, one of Scotland’s most beautiful and vibrant places to visit. The coach will drop everyone off in the afternoon where your car will be waiting to take you back home – all part of the Eclipse Door to Door collection*.
