The charming seaside town of Tenby is one of the UK’s finest holiday resorts, with a medieval centre and three gorgeous blue flag beaches. With its cobbled streets lined with shops, cafes and restaurants it’s a popular choice for holidaymakers. Tenby’s hilltop position led to its early settlement as a Welsh stronghold, which was replaced in medieval times by a Norman Castle and walled town. Part of the town walls survive to this day and are an attractive feature at the entrance to the old town.

Excursions

Saundersfoot & Carmarthen
We spend the morning in the nearby resort of Saundersfoot, which boasts a beautiful wide, sandy beach. In the afternoon we visit Carmarthen Market, a must-see place which has been around for more than 800 years. Although it dates back to Roman times, it has been cleverly updated and offers a wide range of stalls selling everything from arts and crafts, antique and modern jewellery to locally produced meats, fruit and veg, cheeses and cakes.

Haverfordwest & St Davids
Our morning is spent in Haverfordwest, an attractive and ancient county town in Pembrokeshire, featuring a 12th century castle containing the town museum. We then move on to St Davids, the smallest city in Britain and named after the Patron Saint of Wales. It’s also home to St Davids Cathedral and The Bishops Palace, both well worth a visit.

Cardigan
Cardigan is an ancient market town on the River Teifi estuary. Its unspoilt townscape and rich heritage provide a nostalgic backdrop to a thriving culture of arts and crafts. The narrow streets, traditonal shops, inns and Georgian & Victorian fronts help create a unique visitor experience (six day holidays only).
